1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
The first video i have piked is the Ellie Goulding - "your song", this video has influenced me in many ways. Firstly the Mise en scene that has been used relates a little bit to my own music video. Casual clothing has been used. Ellie Goulding has casual clothing like my artist also they both wear colorful clothing. Also the setting is similar, there are some shots of Ellie Goulding walking outside and in my video my artist also does some shots that are outside. Similarly there are shots inside a house. Another similarity was both artists interact with other people in the video. Ellie Goulding hugs the girl in the park and in my video the artist Melody Davies pushes the two girls out the way (the fight scene) so there is interaction in both video's.
The second video i have picked is Pixie Lott - Turn it up video. The reason i have piked this video is because i believe it has the same type of target audience. Both my video and the Pixie Lott video has a young female artist. This will attract the same type of people. Another way both mine and this video relate to each other is by the mise-en-scene used e.g. the clothing are both colorful and bright. Also the clothing are casual but trendy clothes. I like the mid shots and long shots used in this video which influenced me when making my pop video.
Below are some of the screen shots from Ellie Gouldings's, Pixie Lott's and my pop video. All three have a extreme close up shot and the artist face which is placed on the right hand side.
Below are another three shots from all three video's of close up shots of the artist. All look very similar to each other but a little different at the same time.
Below are two screen shots of a waterfall, the top image from Ellie Gouldings video and the bottom image from my own pop video.
Below are shots of Pixie Lott's video and my video. These two shots show that the artist is interacting with other people in the video. This influences me to do the same thing in my video.
Here are some digipaks and advertisements i have looked at. They are very colorful and eye-catching and have influenced me in relating them to my own advertisement and digipak.

2. How effective is the combination of your main product (video) and ancillary texts (digipak and advertisement)?
i believe in order for a music video to be successful it must have a clear visual link. This usually defines a product and gives in identity in order to be noticed by a certain type of target audience. The visual links that i have tried to make through out my digipak is one main colour which is pink. In my photo's i have used pink and have carried this out trough out the digipak. the reason i did this is so that each photo in the digipak would link to each other. In my advertisement there is pink used, reason for this was so it related to the digipak. Like the digipak the advert also had a image of the artists face. I did this because i wanted the digipak, advert and video to relate and look like a good promotional package. By relating each piece to the other i believe i have created a successful promotion package.
By looking at the colours used images and font i believe the audience would recognize them as linked products.
i believe my ancillary products were very successful as they related to each other very well. I think by taking the pop video into consideration and then designing the ancillary products well it will attract the target audience. How? firstly looking at the image of the artist i.e clothing, if people like the mise-en-scene the clothing then they will like the artist and buy the product. secondly the type of music, if i can express exactly what type of music is being portrait through the advert then the audience would what to know what this advert is about and will take time to read it.
